Customer Spotlight: Victoria S. – Empowering Creativity Through Accessible Tech

Candoo Tech client Victoria S. is a teacher, playwright, and poet whose passion for the written word remains undimmed despite facing visual neurological challenges.

Technology has been a game changer in helping Victoria overcome some of her obstacles, not just to stay connected, but as an essential tool for her professional and creative expression. Like many individuals navigating accessibility barriers, she occasionally encounters frustrating roadblocks. That’s where Candoo steps in.

During multiple one-on-one remote sessions, Candoo’s Tech Concierge, Steven, has worked closely with Victoria to add dictation software, change font size, and highlight text. As a poet, Victoria prefers flowing, punctuation-free lines, but her dictation software automatically inserted periods whenever she says “new line.” Steven helped her resolve this issue so her poetry could stay true to her voice, uninterrupted by unwanted grammar.

Listen to Victoria dictating her poetry and making some screen adjustments with Candoo’s help.

These kinds of personalized accessibility and other adjustments are at the heart of what we do at Candoo. Victoria’s work as an educator and artist enriches lives, and we’re proud to help ensure that technology continues to support, not hinder, her creativity and productivity.

Her poetry is included below. It’s a reminder of the beauty that can flourish when the right tools are in place.

At Candoo Tech, we believe that technology should empower everyone, especially those with unique needs and incredible stories to tell.

Mourning Song
—for Steve—
I was singing in an old willow tree,
I was singing, that bird was me.
I was singing and the branches swooned,
down to the ground and rustled there.
I was singing a song of love
for the fellows who died
and were buried around.
I was wearing a fetching gown.
Did you hear me singing in the old willow tree?
Did you hear my heart bursting
and know it was me?

He’s under the ground, my true love,
and I will be singing for eternity.
